Contrast

Contrast, by definition, means to compare and contrast; to note the opposite natures, purposes, etc. Contrast is the state of being strikingly different from something else in juxtaposition or close association.

Contrasting colors have different levels of contrast depending on where they are on the color wheel. Colors that are directly opposite from one another on the color wheel, for example, have the highest contrast, whereas colors next to one another have the lowest.
