Descenders

By admin

In typography and handwriting, descenders are the opposite of ascenders. They are the portion of a letter that extends below the baseline of a font. For example, the lowercase letters g, j, q, p and in the letter y, the descender is the “tail”, or that portion of the diagonal line which lies below the v created by the two lines converging. In some fonts, the lowercase f, capital Q and J and certain numbers are also descenders.
